PGA Ryder Cup

Not your dad’s golf tournament

The Ryder Cup is not your average golf competition. Attendees paint their faces and scream for their team in this unique USA vs Europe event. Turner Sports, who holds the broadcast rights to the Ryder Cup, needed to redesign the website for the 2016 event. I lead the visual design effort and had a hand in the overall information architecture and user experience. The event is held every two years, so the site needed to flex and morph as the start date came closer. We envisioned three distinct “phases” of the site: pre-event, live-event, and post-event. Each phase displayed relevant news and competition standings. A unique live experience allowed viewing a simulcast of the TV broadcast mashed with live blogging commentary and data-rich scoreboard.
